Shelby GT350 Track Day

Eau Claire Ford Lincoln Quick Lane Sales Manager, Dale Winistorfer, had the opportunity to participate in the GT350 Track Day at Road America. The event featured performance vehicles including the Ford Focus RS, Ford Raptor, and the Shelby GT350. Dale put the power of the new GT350 to the test by getting into the drivers seat, and cruising the track!

Here's what Dale had to say about this incredible experience:

"Something to cross off of my 'Bucket List'."

"Last Wednesday I was invited to Road America at Elkhart Lake, WI, to learn about and have the opportunity to drive the new Ford Shelby GT 350. After a brief introduction to the vehicle and signing the proper insurance forms, (who to contact in case of emergency!) and strapping on our safety vest and helmets we were the first group to drive the GT350. A professional driver accompanied me in the passenger seat explaining to me how to maneuver on the track. Three cones on the side of the track were designated for braking and one cone was meant to show you the best lane to set up for the next curve. The first lap was a training lap and the next two laps were to experience the performance of the car. The car is fantastic in acceleration and handling with 526 HP under the hood and 429 foot pounds of torque."

"After my three laps around the track the professional driver took the wheel for two laps. This was unreal. The professional driver flew around the track, using the huge Brembo brakes and the 6 speed transmission to perfection. A very intense driving experience."

"After driving the Shelby GT and listening to the Performance Team talk about the vehicles coming, like the new Focus RS, car enthusiasts will be waiting to get their hands on the wheels of one of these vehicles."

"Thanks to the Ford Performance team for the experience."

Dale had the opportunity to see some of the most anxiously awaited vehicles coming to the Ford Performance lineup. A track day like this is truly "bucket list" worthy! Check out some of the photos below!

Why Get Your Tires Rotated?

What is a Tire Rotation?
A tire rotation is the process of switching the placement of the tires on your vehicle. Depending on the situation, that could mean switching your tires from front to back, back to front, side to side, or diagonally.

What is the Purpose of a Tire Rotation?
The primary reason for getting the tires rotated on your vehicle, is to make sure all four tires wear evenly. Evenly worn tires is important, because it helps to prolong the life of your tires. That means you don't have to purchase tires as frequently. Evenly worn tires also keep your vehicle rolling smoothly. It also contributes to the handling of your vehicle which helps to keep you safe while driving.

Why Do Tires Wear Unevenly?
There are many reasons that tires get worn. Uneven wear of tires is often related to the weight distribution of your vehicle. Depending on the type of vehicle you drive, the weight could be distributed more heavily in the front, or rear end. Because of this, the tires will become more worn under the heavier end of the vehicle. Driving habits can also contribute to uneven wear of tires. Everyone drives differently, so this is subject to a variety of variables. Improper alignment can also lead to uneven tire wear. That's why wheel alignment is also important for maintaining your tires.

What Can I Do About it?
Getting your tires rotated on a regular basis is an important way to avoid premature tire purchases. New tires can be expensive, so rotating them is important to extend the life of your tires so you don't have to purchase them as frequently.

At Quick Lane Tire and Auto Center located at Eau Claire Ford Lincoln, you can get your tires rotated by experienced professionals to help you prolong the life of your tires and save you money.

How Do I Know What My Tire Pressure Should Be?

Keeping your tires filled correctly contributes to your gas mileage, the handling of your vehicle, and overall wear of the tires. Maintaining the right amount of air pressure in your tires is important, but how do you know what the "right amount" is?

The correct air pressure for your tires is typically listed inside the driver's door, or door frame, of your vehicle. The placement of the information can vary on different vehicles. The maximum tire pressure is often listed on the tires as well, however this number is the maximum air pressure for the tire and not the ideal pressure, so do not fill the tire to that amount.

You can find this information on the edge of the driver's door, or door frame, in many vehicles. Refer to the Cold Tire Pressure for your front, rear, and spare, tires. Other vehicles may have a different PSI listed, so refer to the information listed on your vehicle before inflating or deflating your tires.

Also, remember to check the air pressure of your spare tire. It's easy to forget, but it's important in the case that you might need to use it.

Remember to check your tire pressure often to maintain the optimum handling, wear, and gas mileage of your vehicle. Temperature changes can also cause changes in tire pressure so keep that in mind during months of major temperature shifts.

Of course, if there is any doubt, bring your vehicle to Eau Claire Ford Lincoln Quick Lane for all your tire purchase, and maintenance needs. We carry a wide variety of tires and can help keep your vehicle rolling smoothly.

Why Get Your Oil Changed?

You've likely been told that getting the oil changed in your vehicle is important. However, you may not have been told why. Oil changes are an essential part of vehicle maintenance. If the oil in your vehicle isn't changed, it can lead to many expensive, and time consuming problems.

Why Does My Engine Need Oil?
The primary job of your engine oil, is to lubricate the moving parts in your engine. With properly maintained oil, the components of your vehicle's engine can keep moving smoothly. All of the moving parts inside the engine create a lot of friction, and as a result, heat. Engine oil helps to reduce the amount of friction between the components of the engine, and carries away the heat as well.

Why Does Engine Oil Need To Be Changed?
It makes sense to keep oil inside the engine of your vehicle, but why does it need to be changed? Since the parts inside your engine are constantly working, they eventually get worn and create debris. Debris from combustion can also be found in the engine. The debris inside the engine can be picked up by the engine oil, and as a result, the oil gets dirty. The dirty oil is thicker than clean oil, and has a more difficult time moving and keeping the components lubricated.

Dirty oil does not work as well as clean oil. That's why getting your oil changed is important. The dirtier the oil gets, the less effectively it works. That means, the components inside your engine don't move as smoothly, and the engine becomes hotter because of the extra friction. Eventually, the parts inside your engine will become excessively worn out, and will need to be replaced. If your engine oil doesn't get changed, eventually your engine could completely stop moving. All of this results in repairs that cost you money.

What Can I Do To Avoid These Expensive Problems?
Fortunately, these problems can be avoided simply by getting the engine oil in your vehicle changed on a regular basis. You can keep your engine running smoothly and avoid expensive repairs, all by getting your oil changed.

At Quick Lane Tire and Auto Center located at Eau Claire Ford Lincoln, you can get your oil changed by experienced technicians to avoid the problems associated with dirty engine oil.
